The Giver is a beauty. Anybody that didn't enjoy it probably didn't because they couldn't get past the fact Jonas has a wet dream in like the third chapter. ANYWAYS the book is kind of irrelevant to what the poster (who apparently just listened to Imagine for the first time) was getting at.
