Summary

When a new coffee shop opens up across the street from The Choom Gang, NOID experiences Black Rage and is not legally culpable for his actions.

Transcript

{The tower block looked like a smooth block of rock, which had yellowed and aged for the past 40 years. Wide, flat planes of concrete separated by a skinny band of brick rose from the parking lots and strip malls of its surroundings and meshed with the others of its kind that littered the skyline. Pockmarks stretched across the concrete, carving into the surface the balconies and the windows that opened up each room to the world. On both sides laid the asphalt that made the parking lots, cracked and potholed, half empty.

NOXIGAR: These details here are actually interesting. In something less crappy, they'd be given the thumbs-up by me. But...

Bluebry looked out of his window on the 7th floor into the parking lot that surrounded the building. Past it was the strip mall, including the convenience store where he buys his coffee and breakfast every Friday morning. The old post office next to it had been shut down for years, the lease sign still sitting in its window, faded by the sun.}

BLUEBRY: I built this city on rock and roll.

NOXIGAR: The song title is We Built This City on Rock and Roll Hill. But I digress.

{Brooksie walks through the place the door used to be before the door rotted off of its hinges.}

BROOKSIE: Hey guys did you hear about the new coffee shop

NOXIGAR: No punctuation whatsoever, huh?

{Bluebry looks back out the window and now the post office is a indie coffee shop. The glass from the window falls out onto the street.}

BROOKSIE: It is called "The Coffee Cat" and it is the perfect spot for just hanging out, you know?

BLUEBRY: That sounds like a sweet place to take my MacBook and just write.

NOXIGAR: My face when you said "MacBook" turned from a smile into a frown.

CHWOKA: I'm in. I've got my NaNoWriMo to catch up on.

{Cut: The Coffee Cat. All the Choom but NOID are sitting there on the orange couches and beanbag chairs with their MacBooks, sipping mochalattichinos.}

NOXIGAR: So... why is NOID upset? How is NOID not going on strike because of the coffee shop? What explanation do we have for half of this plot? Sheesh.
