i'm new to this

how do these multiuser things usually work Brerose 07:17, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Ah, well, we basically have a basic plot established, and then we just... write towards the end, while also following the basic plot. No limit to how much we can individually write, but I wouldn't recommend writing the entire episode by yourself unless everyone else is totally onboard with what you're doing and approve. We all control each other's characters for the sake of faster progression, but you can also edit what somebody else has already written in regards to certain things such as characterization and plot and such. Lex 07:24, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
Mm, that makes sense.
I just have no idea how Ventin and Sirrus should be introduced.
They could just. knock on the door, but that seems too responsible. Brerose 07:28, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
i don't know specifically, but i believe it should involve an impromptu performance of the song "heat of the moment" by someone Lex 07:34, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps they're /already/ inside? Maybe we can figure this out tomorrow after my brain. has been rested. Or someone else could do it on the spot, that works too Brerose 07:36, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
That would be an interesting concept. We could actually play it off as some kind of horror scene. Like... over a period of a few days, they keep hearing weird noises at night. In an attempt to get to the bottom of it, one of them investigates while everyone else is alseep, and find the two... doing something, and that they've been hiding from everyone else the whole time. this might just be the last episode due to the fact that i have no doubt that they'll end up murdering everyone in their sleep Lex 07:47, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
Okay then, I do like this idea, Lex. The robots die first. I'm going to think it over tonight before bed, maybe think of what exactly they could be doing. Brerose 07:53, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

i read "candy striper" as "candy stripper" and for a moment i was wondering why the hell remolay was dressed so indecently Lex 08:32, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

I originally wanted to write that he was dressed like a sexy candy striper but I decided against it so as to not give people the wrong ideas Artisan of TortureThey call me Big T BLOODArtisan of Torture 08:36, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
I should totally get some sleep but

bravo you got them better than I could have

but I'm not going to pull a remolay don't worry <3

i'll stay and do character development and still write them a little and stuff Brerose 18:57, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, the way I see Ventin is that she's like... someone who doesn't give a fuck, at all. If she wants to do it, she'll do it, consequences be damned. And I think having blatant recklessness like that could actually work out in terms of humor. Lex 19:09, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
Mmhm, and if you try and tell her off? You'll regret it. Sirrus is one of the few people who can actually calm her down, but he's still pretty eccentric as well, just not as violent. Brerose 19:11, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
I see, I see. What does she bring to the table in term of productivity though? Lex 19:14, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
To get money for the house? Well, they could probably pay a few month's rents with what they took from their father to start, and from there on, Sirrus is more equipped for a job, while Ventin..could probably scare someone out of their belongings, though I don't believe the Wikihood would agree.
Sirrus has many more life skills due to being groomed as a child to take his father's business, before throwing that away to live with Ventin and his mother. So, he could hold a job if required, as long as Ventin didn't screw it up. Brerose 19:17, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
Ahh, I see. That's not too bad. As for Ventin's illegalities, the Wikihood is more likely to accept it and look away at the fact that it's illegal, provided the police don't get lured over. If the police come, then the criminal is completely screwed. Lex 19:20, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Sorry that I'm not writing too much in my edits

I just don't believe I'm comfortable enough yet playing your characters? Maybe eventually this will change though Brerose 20:59, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Oh no, it's fine. You could possibly read through the series to get a better grasp of the characters? Lex 21:01, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Any ideas on how Ventin will 'redeem' herself, so to speak?

So far, it doesn't look like she'd be staying in the house much longer, and if this is all she does I wouldn't blame them for kicking her to the curb.

Sirrus would probably be more likely to get a pass, but he's not going to leave Ventin.

I have no ideas however, you guys are the smart ones. :| Brerose 23:29, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

She takes after her grandmother. Have her start becoming more profane in language, and more... violently minded in what she's saying. Make it extra graphic to the point where Noxigar winces, and have her play it all off as a joke. Lex 03:21, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

i'm not the biggest fan of firefly but why don't you like it -pmelondemon43y
For the most part it's because of lackluster characterization across the board. The writing for it outside of characterization doesn't do enough to compensate. Noxigar 01:26, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
secretly noxi just hates anything made by joss whedon Brerose 01:33, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
That's not a secret. I could go on a multi-faceted rant but I'm not sure if my Let's Play of Katawa Bell Quest Team Racing X6 will require context about my disdain for an author whose writing is viciously undisciplined and whose taste in actors is questionable (outside of Neil Patrick Harris for that one movie). I find a lot of his stuff excessively overhyped by not only my own parents, but a handful of Tumblr and then some peeps on MSPAForums.
To change the subject before I get a migraine from the derailed convo I wonder if Noxigar calling the cat "Shotgun Ice" will be a thing or if I should make the cat talk to him in English and tell him its name so Noxi can stop misusing it. I could also call it Spinning Blade or Bubble Splash, 'cause those'd be okay.Noxigar 02:01, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
I actually did consider having the cat speak English, due to one of Rosenberg's wacky inventions, but I ultimately decided against it because I want to keep Steph as grounded as possible in terms of absurdity, and everything around her should also be grounded. Including the cute cat. Nah, it's just an ordinary cat. Lex 02:03, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

sooo...

noxi, is there anything else you have in mind for noxigar's arc in this episode? Lex 02:57, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Not really. The episode's not even close to over, but I'd rather get some more character depth for Stephanie so unless you want Noxigar to develop an asthma attack in her house I don't have much in the way of anything comedic. There's really just Noxigar looking at the map and memorizing Midway's layout like his life depended on it. {winks} Noxigar 02:59, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Ahh. Because at the end of the episode, I want the surprise kidnap ambush to totally happen, by way of Rosenberg's... robots. I was just thinking, like this whole incident with Stephanie could be a ruse to lure Noxigar in first, then the others follow. IDK, what do you think. Lex 03:13, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
If Ventin is sleeping, would they even know she was there?
Sirrus is more modeled after me a bit so he's an insomniac, spends late nights reading and surfing ebay, so he's more likely to get found by robots than Ventin. Brerose 03:15, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
I'm not bashing you or anything but
Sirrus is unlikely to use larger English words. Whenever he and Ventin are alone they speak solely in Romanian, and Ventin only has a stronger grasp of English due to the amount of American movies she watched while Sirrus was at school, as she usually ditched unless Sirrus could convince her otherwise. Brerose 03:11, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Ah. Okay. I shall prepare Noxigar's emotional reactions to Ventin's shenanigans later. Noxigar 03:19, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
That is sufficient. I am exceptionally busy with gushing over Homestuck updates for once, and probably will let the wild wrenches stay unthrown for a bit whilst I let you and Chaos handle your mirthful plans whilst I distract myself so my wild wrenches don't harm anything. Noxigar 03:18, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Ah, alright. Because the thing is, I don't think Steph would actively hinder Rosenberg's plans at all, especially considering how his main plan is regarding the wellbeing of Midway City itself, after all. She's aware of the importance of that, and wouldn't dream of hindering it because she agrees. Lex 03:23, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
I guess I can continue to be a Spanner in the Works since my wild wrenches are actually doing the correct thing in advancing the plot along. Noxigar 03:30, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Eh, no matter what happens, Rosenberg will get his slice of... cake. It's just that depending on how much he's hindered, the more aggressively he'll get what he wants. Lex 03:39, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Well I don't think being kidnapped would go too well with Ventin, maybe the death of a few of his employees, robot decimation, you know, the works. Brerose 03:48, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Oh, he has his ways. Lex 03:49, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Maybe a time skip is in place, wikihood-side? I have an idea on how to propel the story but it requires me to ix-nay one of my old plans, and also requires a time skip. Brerose 04:10, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Man, let it out, you might be the one that can help meee Lex 04:19, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Here's to hoping an introduction of Noelle actually helps. Noxigar 04:22, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Damn your wild wrenches, Noxi, ruining my plans! Brerose 04:26, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

{Death to all colons} My wild wrenches are supposed to accelerate plans or otherwise help further them along. What plan did I ruin so I can fix the problem? Noxigar 04:30, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

I have no clue how I can time skip now without it being completely awkward, seeing as Noelle just arrived. If I just time-skip, then it leaves the Noelle thing slightly unresolved and no one likes that. Brerose 04:31, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
How much time are you trying to skip towards? Noxigar 04:32, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

No, how about they actually fight some pick-up droids and actually make use of their hemomancy? They might as well save themselves... Noxigar 17:36, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
I feel like that would be more of a crutch than anything else, which is why I suggested that they try and show some sort of more believable human emotions through a situation that would merit them staying with the gang long term as opposed to them lazing about Artisan of TortureThey call me Big T BLOODArtisan of Torture 01:29, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
they have money
is that not enough
Seriously though, I think Sirrus is the one more likely to convince them. He's more..uh..human-ish in his emotions.
I must admit I just recently came back to writing, so, if anything I write seems iffy, feel free to change it (which you're already allowed to do but FUCK THE POLICE). Brerose 02:20, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

hate to point this out too, but

episode 9:

STEPHANIE: Also, Noxigar planned to fill his end of the bargain with that ice cream social. Today he sent me a letter under the alias "Lexon Darkheart" and proceeded to ramble on about how he got the money and he plans to pay it to me upfront on behalf of Chaos, Lex, and the rest of the gang.

episode 10:

STEPHANIE: Wait... you're Lexon Darkheart?

again, i'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but in episode 9, she's fully aware of noxigar's alias as lexon darkheart, but in episode 10, she seems to have completely forgotten that, despite the amount of time passing in between the two episodes being quite short

sorry :( Lex 01:01, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

It's okay, and while I had done that on purpose it is easy to fix in a few lines of dialogue. Noxigar 01:03, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Ahhh, alright. Lex 01:04, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Yeah my decision to riff The World's Greatest as opposed to maybe helping Episode 10 end is probably not that great an idea. Noxigar 01:05, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Nah, it's alright. I'll figure out a way of ending episode 10, it's just that I think that the whole Sirrus and Ventin plot to be overall lacklustre. I mean, I could end it right now how I would want it to, but again, I don't want the actual Sirrus and Ventin plot to just.. fall flat either. Lex 01:10, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Or, we could make it work? They're acting slightly mysterious (while also being very vocal about it), and that's slightly how they are, atleast, Sirrus is kind of secretive. So, maybe, someone is about to find out what happened in their room when suddenly: ROBOT ATTACK. Just a tiny ramble-idea though. Brerose 02:12, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
The way we're going, this is the most likely. Lex 02:16, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Post-Production setup

This is what typical revisions after the episode ends look like for me. For Episode 10, it's particularly intensive, but the others all generally follow it, just need some rearranging. This formula will be broken down and applied to the Back Room so that people who have episode ideas can use this to better develop them, as well as giving us a format to understand it all.

A PLOT: Sirrus and Ventin have landed in Townindale and are looking for a home, but as far as they go they're rather offputting. In order to better guage their qualities, they put them on a trial run. After the trial run ends in a failure, they're given one last chance in the form of ailing a still-damaged Lex back to health.

B PLOT: Noxigar heads into Midway, alone, to discuss business with Stephanie regarding the company and the Wikihood as it stands. While it seems rather innocent, it is eventually revealed to be a sham set up by Rosenberg himself, who has begun to mobilize.

  • Exposition: Lex is still injured and is being nursed back to health. The gang has been tending to them himselves. Chaos was going to stick Noxigar with the sole task, but Noxigar had to skip town to discuss business affairs with Stephanie.
  • Rising Action: Sirrus and Ventin are beyond creepy. The gang gives them a room at the end of the hall, but the two seem to be incredibly offputting and menacing. The gang feels genuinely uncomfortable with them around. Noxigar has called Steph and suggested that he cash in on his Ice Cream Social offer, so the two go to get food. Steph only expects Ice cream, but Noxigar is prepared to sit down to a whole, if not several, meals.
  • Climax: At their breaking point, the rest of the household decide that if the twins can't manage being at least relatively normal then they'll just be thrown out, and give them the task of taking care of Lex to prove themselves. Stephanie, in the midst of the meal and the discussions, has decided to order some drinks, a curve ball aimed at Noxigar this time. She gets really drunk. REALLY drunk.
  • Falling Action: Sirrus and Ventin misinterperet the definiton of the phrase "take care of" and they attempt to kill Lex. The two fail multiple times(no more than 3) before Sirrus suggests that it might not be the case. Noxigar has to put up with the enibreated Stephanie and tries to keep her somewhat safe in Midway on the town late at night.
  • Resolution: Sirrus and Ventin try doing things the right way and Lex is cured rather quickly. The gang rejoices. Noxigar awakes the next morning after bringing Steph back to her apartment, but realizes that he's fallen for a ploy set up by Rosenberg and is captured. The rest of the gang is captured as well back home, and while they put up a minimal fight, they're apprehended rather quickly.

I'm still rewriting this, but this is what I do to reapproach episodes that need it. Make sense to everybody? Artisan of TortureThey call me Big T BLOODArtisan of Torture 02:31, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

changes so far

  • The twins are more passive, but still as aggressive.
  • I cut out a noxigar scene. I think his being gassed can occur offscreen if written properly.
  • I rewrote the ending, obviously. It was the only way to fit in the revisions properly while connecting the story along.

I'll hopefully have it up this afternoon. Artisan of TortureThey call me Big T BLOODArtisan of Torture 11:49, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
