subject: Weather

Dear Zippy,
HOW'S THE WEATHER UP THERE!?
From,
A Concerned Meteorologist

{Zippy stumbles on the word "meteorologist".}

ZIPPY: Hey, a good one! I guess I got lucky today. {typing} Well, sir, the weather around Anytown's actually pretty nice most of the year! In fact, we've got some great weather right about now!

{Zippy walks outside and is immediately blown away by extremely strong winds. He grabs the ground and drags himself back to his house. Once he gets back in, he shuts the door and locks it.}

ZIPPY: Huh. Looks like we've got some bad weather. {typing} So... I guess I lied. We don't always have good weather.

{Somebody knocks at the door.}

ZIPPY: Who it is?

MITCH: {offscreen} Just open up!

ZIPPY: Fine.

{Zippy opens the door. Kooky, Mitch and Syd are blown into the house by the wind.}

ZIPPY: Oh! Hey. It's you guys.

KOOKY: Hey, Zip. Sorry to bust in like this, but we need some help.

SYD: Yeah, everybody's power is out!

ZIPPY: Not mine, man.

SYD: Exactly. Just let us stay here for a bit, please!

ZIPPY: Alright. How can I say no to you guys?

KOOKY: Whatever. Let's go in the basement.

{Kooky, Mitch and Syd head to the basement.}

ZIPPY: Why can't you guys just stay up here?

{A window shatters and a piece of glass flies into Zippy's forehead.}

ZIPPY: That would explain it.

{Cut: the basement. Zippy(now bandaged), Mitch, Kooky and Syd are there.}

ZIPPY: The funny thing is... I didn't think I had a basement.

KOOKY: Well, looks like you do.

MITCH: So... what do we do?

KOOKY: Well, since the power's still on, I figure we can watch TV.

{The power goes out.}

KOOKY: Ugh... me and my big beak.

SYD: Oh, no! We're trapped, aren't we?

ZIPPY: Not unless, for some reason, the door is locked!

{Zippy runs up to the basement door. It is locked.}

ZIPPY: Me and my big bill.

MITCH: Great. We're trapped in Zippy's basement with no hope for survival.

ZIPPY: So... what do we do?

MITCH: Call for help, moron!

ZIPPY: Alright, I'll try.

WARNING: Shuts off due to low battery!

{The ZCell shuts off.}

ZIPPY: Oh, great! Not only was the message in Engrish, the battery died! Thanks a lot, crappy Asian phone!

KOOKY: Don't worry, all! My smarts will get us out of this! Now just hand me a transistor and a proton laser.

ZIPPY: I would, but I don't think I have a transist-whatever and some proton-mabobs.

KOOKY: Oh. Right. Not many people would carry those.

MITCH: So... we're all functionally useless?

KOOKY: Yep.

MITCH: {groans} Fine. We'll stay down here until the power goes back on. Why not?

{Timeswipe: an hour later. Zippy is on the floor, looking exhausted. Kooky and Syd are sitting, looking depressed. Mitch is looking for a way out.}

MITCH: There's got to be a way out of here, Zippy. Do you have any idea where an exit could be?

ZIPPY: Don't ask me, man!

MITCH: {irritated} This is your house, Zippy.

ZIPPY: I only just found out I had a basement, okay?

KOOKY: Hey, Zippy... Is that a Xevious machine over there?

ZIPPY: Yep. I got it back in '94. Why?

KOOKY: Is there something behind it?

ZIPPY: I don't know, you're the... science.

KOOKY: I'm the science?

ZIPPY: Hey, I haven't eaten for hours, okay? I may need to start eating my shoes. God help me if I eat my shoes.

MITCH: Wait... there is something behind there!

ZIPPY: Really?

MITCH: It's... it's a door!

SYD: We're free!

MITCH: Well, after we move the machine.

{Mitch, Kooky and Syd push the machine out of the way to reveal a door.}

SYD: We're really free now!

{Cut: outside. Zippy and pals emerge from a bulkhead on the side of the house. The weather is nice and the sun is shining.}

ZIPPY: Yes! Sweet, sweet land! How I missed you so!

KOOKY: Thank God we're out of that jam.

MITCH: {sighs} This is why I never come over to your house, Zip.

{The others leave as Zippy starts kissing the ground.}

ZIPPY: Oh, lady luck is on my side!
