What Does The Future Mean For Us?
For English class we had to write a speech and deliver it for our winter exams. This was mine. I got full marks.
There has been much debate on when the future started. The earliest known case of the future happened in 1412. The philosopher Doremi Fasoh stated that the future was no longer the past, nor the present, and will carry on being what it is until the point of decision. I concur with this statement. The future is many things. The sandwich I may eat tomorrow. War. Christmas. Eleven seconds from now. And who is to say the future is a good or bad thing? I do not know. For if ever there was a need for the future, it would be now.
There have also been many differing opinions on hustle and bustle. This cannot be denied. Moving around quickly, and with purpose, is a true sign of character. Secondarily, bustle (much like hustle) yields more productivity for all but the middle class. "Hustle and bustle are like my right and left arms," said Li'l Spicy in his famous "Hustle and Bustle Are Like My Right and Left Arms" speech. The dictionary defines bustle as "excited and often noisy activity; a stir." A stir, indeed. For what is hustle, nay, bustle, without the foundations of our society?
When I am long gone, I hope to be remembered. And what better way to be remembered than offering advice that will stand the test of time. Powerful words that are relevant to today, and tomorrow, and the future. That is what I have tried to do all my life. I want what they want, and every other guy who came over here and spilt his guts and gave everything he had wants. For our country to love us, and as much was we love it.
The world isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and no matter how tough you are it’ll beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, and nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it isn’t about how hard you can be hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. And if you know what you’re worth go get what you’re worth, but you’ve got to be willing to take the hits.
