I originally made Meulin Pendragon at the same time I made Hakamichi Kurloz, for Vampire the Requiem. She was intended to be a past Mage friend of Kurloz's who would act as an internal voice of reason. Mages aren't allowed to be Touchstones for Vampires, at least not in the games I run, so... here she is instead. She's a Moros (Death Mage) who's in an order called the Silver Ladder - this combination is entirely a pun, based on the fact she was made with Vampire in mind for Kurloz's Climbing the Ladder (backstory) section of the game.
I made her for a New Amsterdam chronicle that shat on itself. The chronicle had a total of three Storytellers:
- I wrote Meulin's character sheet with the first Storyteller in mind, as when I explained the shitfuckery that happened in my New Orleans Vampire campaign they lent a sympathetic ear and then had Meulin's Nimbus be her memories of Kurloz. We then mutually concluded, in consensus, that Meulin's build for Mage would be similar to Kindred from League of Legends.
- The second Storyteller came in after a month and a half of hiatus when the first Storyteller wound up too busy to run New Amsterdam. There wasn't a whole lot Meulin could do in the scenes with the second Storyteller so I wound up just getting yelled at for not using my Moros powers more often.
- The third Storyteller and I agreed that Meulin came up with her Shadow Name after being introduced to Homestuck by a Vampire chat known as "viichan." We did some stuff to try and corroborate ideas that First Storyteller had, but not much came out of it. Thanks to the Third Storyteller, and to the chat in which New Amsterdam's coffee shop RPs took place, I wound up conjuring more of Meulin's backstory: she wears Kevlar to local Consilium meetings as an end result of her initial apartment in Boston being burnt down by BDSM-wearing Free Council Wizards, after she had sex with a Cruac-using Vampire.
She would fight a Scelesti who wound up distorting her current apartment in New Amsterdam, but the scene was cut short by an Insensate condition and the fact the New Amsterdam chronicle was forcibly halted for reasons alien to me. I imagine it would've led to a Total Party Kill, with the exception of one player character who wasn't anywhere near Meulin's apartment during the time of the Scelesti encounter.
I'm motivated to write more for Meulin in Mage, but getting non-Vampire campaigns with which to do Chronicles of Darkness games is a massive pain in the ass.
