Yesterday, after experiencing PETA's two unlicensed Nintendo tragedies: Super Chick Sisters and Cooking Mama: Unlicensed PETA Edition: Mama Kills Animals, I couldn't take it. Though I am not a big fanboy of Cooking Mama, I don't see her as how PETA expressed her in their game; a bloodthirsty animal killer, I realized something must be done.

I emailed Nintendo.

The following messages are direct quote-on-quote messages between me and Nintendo.

My Message

"Dear Nintendo corporation,

I have spotted a problem that needs your attention. An activist group called People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA (you might know them), is well known for their theories and claims that humans are treating animals crudely and that eating animals is wrong. Yes, this seems like petty information to you, but here's where it gets worse.

PETA has a few games on their website for people to play to help get their message across. Two of their games take a spin on two of YOUR memorable franchises with their own twisted message.

The first is Super Chick Sisters, which is a parody of Super Mario Brothers, but with a PETA message that KFC is evil and treating chickens badly. This one's just plain stupid and got me angry at them for making the game. Apart from that, Mario and Luigi DO appear in the beginning and in various game cutscenes, but are portrayed wrongly. Instance one is in the intro, where Mario and Luigi get Wiitus from playing too much Wii and cannot go out to save the damsel in distress. Instance two is after Mario's Wiitus is gone, he gets beat up by a PETA activist for jumping on turtles. Instance three, Yoshi rejects Mario because his new friends at PETA tell him to make his own decisions. Ridiculous, no?

The other just plain disturbed and scared me, turning one of your more peaceful franchise characters and making her evil. I'm talking Cooking Mama. They turned it into Cooking Mama: The Unlicensed PETA Version: Mama Kills Animals. I have not played fully into it, mainly because I do not want to. I was seriously left shivering, shaking, and almost crying from seeing something like it. Take note that I am 16 years old and I haven't cried over a game in years.

I am hoping you can do something about this. I don't know what, but as long as you can solve this problem, many Nintendo gamers and fans including myself will thank you.

Sincerly,

Thomas P. from New Jersey"

Their Response

"Thomas,

We appreciate your bringing this issue to our attention. At this time, Nintendo is not affiliated with PETA. I will be sure to pass along your report to our Legal Department for further review.
