A Bug's Life happens to be my favorite Pixar movie, and in my opinion the best. During its time, the only other movie which Pixar had made was Toy Story, which while I tolerated it I only found to be average. The plot of A Bug's Life blows every other Pixar movie's plot out of the water (yes, even Monsters University, which I consider my second favorite movie). As an underdog story about a low-ranking ant whose mechanical skills are underused, I can sympathize with the protagonist in it. I can also sympathize with all of the circus bugs, who are also underdog protagonists. They all become heroes, even if it's through partial deceit (which is a plot archetype which becomes viciously overused later on, much to my dismay).

The only flaw I'd find within A Bug's Life is that Hopper is not that great of an antagonist. Granted, Hopper's immediate flaw of arrogance is present and it's used properly, so the story does everything well in terms of character arcs and Hopper eventually being manipulated by the very seasonal food chain he tried to use against the ants and their food-gathering (despite ants being able to eat grasshoppers? Again I'm not certain if Hopper is ineffective or ineffective of an antagonist). The story was more centered around the ant protagonist and the underdog circus bugs throughout, so maybe I'm confused about Hopper due to the seeming lack of focus on him and his grasshopper gang.
