HEY!

YOU!

All the stuff in here is both mine and not real. So don't go
looking for this game, alright? It doesn't exist, and if it
did, you think I'D be writing a FAQ for it? I'd be swimming in
dough!

Swimming in it!

Regardless, I'm probably protected under some act or law, so
don't go trying to steal this, either. I'm looking at you, you
sneaky little peach.

Quit it.

"Ruffcut, Ruffcut, show me how,
to take over the island, now!"

Merlock rubbed his crystal ball, as he did every day. Each time,
his crystal ball failed to help him conquer the Angry Islands.
However, today was an exception, as the crystal ball finally
showed an image in its cloudy quartz body.

"Master Merlock, lookee here!
A way to conquer, crystal clear!" Ruffcut bounced in delight as
he showed the image of a sleeping red dragon in its body.

"Really, now... who's that?" Merlock inquired, startled by the
new development. "He looks mighty powerful, I'll say..."

"That's the Angry Dragon!" Ruffcut said, proud of his own
discovery. "He lives up on Dragon's Ridge, sir; he's the single
meanest creature in the Angry Islands, and he's powerful, too!"

"Interesting..." Merlock said, as he pondered as to how he could
be used. "Say... I'd like to have him as my own."

"You do?" Ruffcut looked a bit nervous all of a sudden. "Well,
he's really powerful, and I don't think he'd like that-"

"Hey!" Merlock brandished his sceptre straight at Ruffcut, who
shrieked in fear. "Who's the evil wizard here?"

"Y-you are, sire," said Ruffcut, apologetically.

"Now, then... I'm off!" said Merlock, as he ever-so-quickly sat
upon his throne (which promptly took flight out the window).

***

Meanwhile, at Dragon Ridge, Angry Dragon was sleeping upon his
pile of gold coins and lustrous jewels, as was custom around his
place. Suddenly, lightning struck the ground beside him, waking
him up quite rudely. As he looked around in a groggy, grumpy
rage, he spotted Merlock on his flying throne.

"Hello there, dragon!" Merlock said with a rage-inducing forced
kindness. "I noticed that you're quite powerful, and I'd like
you to come along with me!"

"Wuh... why?" Angry Dragon furrowed his brow. "What's in it for
me?"

"What's in it for you?" Merlock chuckled. "You're quite forward
for a dragon!" Merlock made his throne descend to the ground. He
stepped off of it and approached Angry Dragon. "I may not look
the part, but I'm a very powerful and VERY evil wizard. I have
magical abilities beyond your comprehension, and if I had a
dragon like yourself, I'd be even MORE unstoppable!"

Angry Dragon snorted. "This had better be worth it."

"Listen..." Merlock took out his sceptre. "I'd advise you to
come with me. After all, I need not mention what would happen
if you don't...!" Merlock's sceptre started gleaming with power,
much to Angry Dragon's surprise.

"So... if I don't come with you..." Angry Dragon's mouth curled
up into a snarl. "... you'll do away with me."

"Well, if I can't have you, nobody can!" Merlock said, laughing.
"Now come along, Angry Dragon."

Angry Dragon growled. "I ain't going."

Merlock grunted. "A bit stubborn, are we?" Merlock pointed his
sceptre at Angry Dragon. "Come with me if you want to live."

"Make me!" Angry Dragon yelled as he spat a burst of flame at
the wizard. Merlock quickly jumped backwards onto his throne as
it rose into the air.

"Well... I warned you!" Merlock shot a bolt of magical lightning
at Angry Dragon, missing him and hitting his pile of treasure.
The coins and jewels were hurtled out of the lair and across the
island, everywhere.

Naturally, this infuriated Angry Dragon, as he shot another fire
ball at Merlock. Merlock's throne took the hit, and Merlock shot
another bolt of energy as the throne wobbled to and fro in the
air. This bolt of energy, unfortunately, hit the dragon, tossing
him backwards and off of his mountaintop lair.

***

Angry Dragon plummeted some time before he hit the ground in a
heap. When he came to, he found himself far away from Dragon
Ridge, and somewhere he had never been before. As he looked to
the sky, he saw Merlock's floating throne headed towards Dragon
Ridge, and he knew he had to stop him before Merlock took over
all of the Angry Islands...

And thus began Angry Dragon's adventure into the unknown and
back home...

- JUMPING - (A) BUTTON - Angry Dragon, like so many heroes
before him, can jump pretty well. Pressing (A) once will
make the big guy jump into the air. Holding it will make him
jump considerably higher than a single press.

- FLYING - (A) BUTTON IN MIDAIR - Angry Dragon's tiny little
wings are actually useful! Pressing the (A) button in midair
will make him descend much slower than he would normally.
Press the button rapidly to keep him floating for as long as
you see fit!

agile for a big old lizard. Holding (B) will make him move

- BREATHING FIRE - [ R ] BUTTON - Angry Dragon can breathe
fire! Well... if you watched the opening cinematic, you'd
know that by now, but expectations have to be lowered. Press
[ R ] to shoot a ball of fire at your opponents and watch
them burn! Pyromania has never been so fun!

- BREATHING FIRE BETTER - HOLD [ R ] BUTTON - Of course,
some times piddly little fireballs won't cut it. That's why
Angry Dragon can charge up his fireballs to larger sizes! By
holding down [ R ] for a little bit, Angry Dragon will be

button to let loose an inferno onto unsuspecting enemies!
Like all good things, however, it isn't without its draw-
backs. Shooting a large fireball will take a bit out of

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Angry Dragon needs to be aware of not only his surroundings...
but his own health, as well! That's why you, the player, need to
help him out by paying attention to his status.

[ HEALTH ]
Health is represented by a green bar. Each hit Angry Dragon
takes empties the health bar by a little bit. Once this runs
out, Angry Dragon loses a life.

[ POWER ]
Power is represented by a blue bar. Each time Angry Dragon spits
a fireball, it goes down a little bit. If he charges a fireball,
it drains rather quickly. The lower the power, the smaller the
fireballs are. This bar regenerates with time.

[ LIVES ]
Lives are represented by a small counter with the icon of Angry
Dragon's face beside it. This goes down each time you lose a
life; losing them all takes you back to the map screen.

[ COINS ]
Coins are represented by a small counter with the icon of a coin
next to it. This goes up each time you get a coin. Jewels count
as ten coins.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Angry Dragon picks up quite a few items on his journey across
the Angry Islands. Here's a list of all of them!

[ COINS ]
These golden coins once belonged to Angry Dragon; he was using
them as a bed, you see. He needs to get them all back (or at the
very least, as much as he can) so he can sleep well upon his
pile of treasure. Coins are important to the ending of the game,
trust me.

[ JEWELS ]
Jewels are dropped by enemies when they are defeated, and count
as ten coins. Other than that, there's no real difference
between these and regular coins.

[ HEALTHSTONE ]
Healthstones are strange, mystical rocks found in great amounts
on the Angry Islands. Touching one heals you, but saps all of
its power, turning it back into a normal rock. When used, this
will heal Angry Dragon's health by half its maximum.

[ FIRESTONE ]
Firestones are odd, magical stones found in small quantities on
the Angry Islands. Touching one will fill you with the power of
fire, but saps its power, making it a normal stone once more.
When used, this will give Angry Dragon a small while to charge
shots without having to worry about kickback.

[ MOONSTONE ]
Moonstones are weird, otherworldly rocks found very scarcely on
the Angry Islands. Touching one imbues the user with a burst of
invulnerability that wears off after a short while, at which
time the Moonstone will revert to being a normal rock. When
used, this will give Angry Dragon a bout of invincibilty for
about twenty seconds.

[ LAUNCHER ]
A launcher is a blue, cylindrical group of rings that, when
entered, will launch Angry Dragon into the air and up to new
heights! Works much like springs in other games.

[ LIFTOFF PAD ]
A liftoff pad is a panel that, when stepped on, will launch
Angry Dragon into the air and into a flying stage. Mostly found
by its lonesome on its own screen.

READY-SET ROAD is the first world that Angry Dragon traverses
after his rather nasty fall from grace at the hands of Merlock.
A tutorial world more than anything, Ready-Set Road poses little
challenge, yet with beautiful scenery and cheerful music, it's
sure to be a nice trek if anything.

  - DRONES - Small, bluish-black ants that amble about idly
To be honest, they're no big deal - use fire or a stomp

  - SCUTTLES - Small, red-shelled beetles that crawl along
like something... weird. That crawls along. Their hard
shells mean that they can only be stomped out.
  - HOPPERS - Small, fuzzy black bugs that hop up and down
from inside their burrows. It might be best to avoid

  - ROCKWALL (see the BOSSES section)
______________________________________________________________

[ LEVEL 1-1: EASY BREEZE ]
Angry Dragon awakens in this level in a heap, shortly after
falling from his lair. He gets up to find himself at Ready-Set
Road... so he's got nowhere to go but right, it seems! This
level is rather short as the game explains the controls and
such. Enemies are thrown at you, but it's not a big deal. Follow
the game's instructions and keep on going to the next level.

[ LEVEL 1-2: WINDING WAY ]
The game steps up the difficulty a little bit with this next
area. Now joining Drones in the fray are Scuttles, which force
you to use your stomp move. Not only that, but there are now pits
that, if fallen down, will rob you of a life! Thankfully, it's
not too much of an ordeal if you use a running jump - and
even so, you can still float to safety. This level won't take
too long, so just trek on forth to get to the third level.

[ LEVEL 1-3: ROCKY ROAD ]
This next level has quite a few jumps, so be wary. Hoppers will
occassionaly jump from between pits, but you can see them coming
from a mile away. Stay high and you'll survive long enough to
get to the next level.

[ LEVEL 1-4: ROCKWALL'S BLOCKADE ]
Before you go any further, Rockwall the golem stops you in your
tracks... and he won't let you go past! Time to knock a chip off
of his block... Check the BOSSES section for a way to beat him!

Once you've finished Ready-Set Road, the way is paved for you to
enter Gnarly Glade... so what are you waiting for? Go there,
already!

¯ ¯ ¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯
GNARLY GLADE is the second world of Angry Dragon Adventure, and
serves as a reminder... it's not all fun and games on the Angry
Islands, and you've got to step it up a bit! With twice the
levels of the last world, it's a wake-up call that, while nice-
looking, is still serious business.

a bit of fire, why don't you?
  - FIREFLIES - These things are technically enemies, since
they hurt you, but they mostly provide light. It's best
not to kill them, as much as you'd like to.
  - WEBSTERS - Websters hop around and lash you with their
slimy tongues. Disgusting, right? I thought so. Take
them out already, before they cover you with frog

______________________________________________________________

[ LEVEL 2-1: SUNSHINE CLEARING ]
In the first REAL level of the game, Angry Dragon has to kick
bug butt and travel across the sunny clearing of Gnarly Glade.
The only real threats here are the Spinnas, though those can be
dispatched with a fireball here and there. All in all, this area
isn't quite as hard as most, but it's certainly a good way to
introduce the concept of a difficulty curve.

[ LEVEL 2-2: TREETOP TREK ]
Another level set mostly up high, Angry Dragon must traverse the
tree tops in order to get to the next level. The bottom is all a
dark, bottomless pit, so it's important you don't fall. It's not
all bad, though: most of the jumps are easy enough, though there
are a few that are a bit tough the first time around. Keep on
jumping to get to the next level.

[ LEVEL 2-3: THROUGH THE TREES ]
Now at the very top of the treeline, Angry Dragon enters his
first (of many) flying levels! If you haven't checked, look at
the CONTROLS for the flying levels (SECTION 2). This level poses
little threat, as it is only an introduction to flight. After a
short while, Angry Dragon will land and head to the next level.

[ LEVEL 2-4: DARK TRAIL ]
Angry Dragon has gone deep enough in the forest to be on a dark,
unlit path. The only sources of light are Fireflies, which while
still technically enemies will help guide you about. Follow the
trail until you reach the light. Good job, Angry Dragon!

[ LEVEL 2-5: UPHILL BATTLE ]
Angry Dragon must now scale a hill! Design is law. Anyhow,
Webster makes his debut in this level, hopping around and
generally being a jerk about it. Thankfully, that's probably the
only real bad thing about this level, as it is rather short,
compared to the other levels.

[ LEVEL 2-6: IT'S ALL DOWNHILL ]
It's just the last level, but now it's downhill! A conspicuous
absence of Websters this time around, though... now you're just
dealing with Hoppers. Get down there and to the end, already!

[ LEVEL 2-7: ROOT OF THE PROBLEM ]
In this level, roots sprout up here and there to ensnare you.
T-try not to let that happen, okay? Spinnas galore in this area;
I hope you like them! At the end, you'll find out where these
roots are sprouting from...

[ LEVEL 2-8: BROOTUS' PLOT ]
Brootus, the mean and nasty wood spirit, is ready to fight you
in the name of Merlock! Time to dispel this ghosty... check the
BOSSES section for a guide on how to beat him.

After uprooting and dethroning the king of Gnarly Glade, it's
time to head down the river and over to the Roaring Rapids!
Hope you have a raft...!

ROARING RAPIDS is a world that's part water, part land. It's a
neat mishmash of terrains, and it's not only cool, it's tough!
The difficulty curve, though steady, gets ramped up a bit with
this area. Don't worry, though! It's going to be alright.

  - GLIMMERS - Glimmerss hop to and fro on land, but in
water, they hop around, being a nuisance. Fire will work
    on them, despite being fish.
  - SQUEEKS - Bats. I hate bats so much. You'll learn to
hate the wily little jerks, too. Thankfully, a fireball
or a stomp will dispatch them easily.

  - GLUB-GLUB THE GREAT (see the BOSSES section)
______________________________________________________________

[ LEVEL 3-1: DOWNSTREAM ]
Rafts! Whee! ... In all seriousness, though, you're on a raft.
Why a dragon would need a raft, I'm not... too... sure. Well,
it's a fun level, anyhow. Jump around to avoid obstacles and
kill enemies to survive the level.

[ LEVEL 3-2: THE RIVER CAVE ]
The snaking river goes through a cave, where you must avoid
Squeeks and Glimmers. It's a bit harder than it sounds, but not
by much. On the way, there will be dark patches that you'll need
the help of Fireflies to get through. Those are few, though, so
you'll have no trouble getting to the exit.

[ LEVEL 3-3: UP THE DOWN WATERFALL ]
This level has you climbing a bluff near a waterfall! The great
scenery, though awesome to behold, isn't as important as getting
up the bluff in one piece - Glimmers, Websters and Scuttles will
be in your way. Take them out and reach the top to go on.

[ LEVEL 3-4: RAPID RELEASE ]
You're out of the water... and into the forest! It's like levels
from the previous world, but a bit more difficult with the new
enemies. Thankfully, it isn't too hard, so get out of the woods
and to the next level.

[ LEVEL 3-5: SPLASH AND SOAR ]
It's another flying level, this time close to the water! Look
out for the rushing rapids - they'll drag you under, making you
lose a life! It's pretty nasty. Squeeks and Glimmers are there
too, making this level quite a bit harder than the others in
this world. It's a bit long, too, so don't expect a break. At
the end of it all, you'll move on to the boss level...

[ LEVEL 3-6: GLUB GLUB'S LAKE ]
It's Glub Glub the Great, and he doesn't look happy that you're
in his waters... fight him off! Check the BOSSES section for
tips.

After sinking Glub Glub the Great, you'll wash up on shore at
the Placid Plains. It was an ordeal, but you're finally on land
again...

PLACID PLAINS is a calm, peaceful place where all manner of

the BAD critters decided to take residence there today, and
Angry Dragon has to fight them off... It's harder, but stay
strong, Angry Dragon!

- NEW ENEMIES
  - HOOS - These. These are awful. When they spot you, they
will divebomb you. No exceptions. Thankfully, they're as
weak as they are annoying, and even the smallest ball of
fire will kill it dead. The only good owl is a dead one.
  - POKIES - Pokies are like Spinnas, but they walk. That
being said, they're a bit more vicious, taking TWO
fireballs (uncharged) to kill! Isn't that mean of them?
  - SNAPJAWS - Snapjaws, like their real world counterparts,
hide in pits and snap at their potential prey. Unlike
their real world counterparts, however, these antlions
are MASSIVE... so much so that they are invincible.

  - KING TRAPJAW (see the BOSSES section)
______________________________________________________________

[ LEVEL 4-1: PLAIN AND SIMPLE ]
A straightforward, flat level. No surprises here, if you're
prepared to deal with new enemies like the Pokies. Easy, right?
Then move on to the next level!

[ LEVEL 4-2: SNAPJAW ATTACK! ]
Snapjaws! Everywhere, Snapjaws! Jump over their pits and don't
let them snap at you... or you'll pay for it. Not only that, but
Hoos! Hoos, so many Hoos! This is awful, get it over with quick!

[ LEVEL 4-3: DEEP GRASS ]
The grass here is long and deep, obscuring your vision! That way
it's more like a maze, or something. Hills will give you a good
approximation of where you are, as well as lower grass and holes
in the grass. Not many enemies, save the occasional Scuttle.

[ LEVEL 4-4: UP AND AWAY ]
Another flight level? Oh, boy! Hoos are plentiful here, but you
can fly, too...! Shoot them down, and dodge Hoppers and Websters
too. It's simple, it's refreshing from that one mean level, and
it's fun, too! Once you land, you can go on.

[ LEVEL 4-5: THE KING APPROACHES ]
An autoscroll level?! That can't be good. Avoid the snapping
jaws of the oncoming King Trapjaw as he tunnels through the
ground beneath your feet... it doesn't last too long, thank
goodness! That doesn't mean it's over, however, for the King...

[ LEVEL 4-6: HAIL TO THE KING ]
The King Trapjaw snatches Angry Dragon in his jaws and pulls him
underground, into his lair... the perfect arena! Check the
BOSSES section for a strategy to dethrone this king.

The antlion King has stepped down, leaving Placid Plains a place
of peace once more. Naturally, Angry Dragon needs a break... so
he's going to the beach!

SLEEPY SHORES... the perfect vacation spot. Once. Now, it's been
taken over by some rogue creatures, and this once beautiful
beach is now a vicious place. ... I wouldn't want to be there.
Regardless, it's a step up in difficulty, and it shows. It's a
good thing Angry Dragon can swim, because he'll be doing a lot
of it!

  - SNIP-SNIPS - Crabs are mean. Hit crabs! They take three
hits, thanks to their armor... and you can't hit them
from above, thanks to their claws! Mean little things.
  - SKATES - A stingray enemy with a tendency to hop out of
the water and fly at you. These things take two hits to
kill, so be prepared when fighting them off.
  - PLUMPS - Plumps are nasty little fish... when they
inflate, they become invincible... and explosive! Stay
away from them, if you know what's good for you.
  - WATTS - Watts are anglerfish with bright lights dangling
from their heads... perfect when you're in a deep dark
trench! They still hurt you, though, so watch out.

  - CLOBBERCLAW (see the BOSSES section)
______________________________________________________________

[ LEVEL 5-1: WONDER OASIS ]
The first level is a rather tough one... despite its name, it's
harder than you'd think! Snip-Snips and Snapjaws litter this
level, giving you tricky jumps and actual hard fights!
Thankfully, it's short, so it won't take you too long to beat
it.

[ LEVEL 5-2: RIDING THE WIND ]
A flight level, of course... and so early on! This level has you
flying above the beach, the salty wind under your wings... Worms
are your main enemy here, though Skates pop up every once in a
while. Palm trees are another threat, though not too often. Beat
this level and you can move on to a fun level!

[ LEVEL 5-3: THE SAND CASTLE ]
Yes, a castle! Made of sand! This level is like a maze in some
ways... actually, it's not really a maze. It's just long. It's
fun, though! The goal of this level is to navigate the castle
corridors... and midway through, you get the first of many
enemy brawls: basically, it's a fight against waves of enemies.
It's short, but you'd best be prepared. After that, finish
finding your way through the castle and go to the next level.

[ LEVEL 5-4: THE CHANGING TIDES ]
This level's gimmick? The water will rise and fall every so
often, forcing you through different paths! It's a bit tough,
and it'd be better to choose the dry path than the wet one. This
level also marks the debut of Plump, the explosive pufferfish.
He's relegated to the wet path, so if you want an easier time,
stay high and dry.

[ LEVEL 5-5: CORAL REEF ]
It's a swimming level. Joy! This level takes place on a gorgeous
coral reef... though most of the coral is sharp, and will take
some of your health if you touch it! Not only that, but Plumps
and Skates are plentiful here, so get your fireballs ready!

[ LEVEL 5-6: DEEP SEA CAVE ]
Another one of those dark levels, you are joined by Watt the
anglerfish this time around! Keep him swimming so you can navi-
gate the dark caves and get back onto land!

[ LEVEL 5-7: SEASHELL SHOAL ]
All manner of seashells litter this beach as both obstacles and
stepping stones. This level introduces the concept of an obsta-
cle on the ground that you must stomp to get rid of; in this
case, it's a big seashell. At the end, you'll hear the sinister
clicking of the boss...

[ LEVEL 5-8: CLOBBERCLAW SHOWDOWN ]
Angry Dragon is suddenly accosted by the nasty Clobberclaw, the
proud owner of his own little island which Angry Dragon happened
to wash up on. He's not letting Angry Dragon pass without a
fight... so give him one! Check the BOSSES section for a guide
on how to beat his sorry behind.

After knocking out the creepy Clobberclaw, Angry Dragon is free
to move on to the next area... the problem is, he has to fly
there! It's time to head into the skies!

______________________________________________________________

[ LEVEL 6-1: WE HAVE LIFTOFF ]
Angry Dragon begins his flight off of Seashell Shoal as Skates
and Glimmers hop at him with all of their might. Hoos, too, fly
at Angry Dragon, though they're less of a big deal. It's not too
long, so you can keep going with no problem.

[ LEVEL 6-2: TOP GUN ]
This is hard. I'm not going to lie, this might make you get a
couple game overs. A constant barrage of enemies will be beating
back Angry Dragon with all of their might, so you've got to beat
them back with that same kind of force! It's long, but you can
do it... right?

[ LEVEL 6-3: MEDDLING MERLOCK ]
It seems Merlock has grown wise to your shenanigans... and he's
arrived on his Air Throne! It's time to fight him in what might
be the greatest shootout of the game! Refer to the BOSSES
section for a guide on how to beat him.

Once you've shot down Merlock, it seems that he's got away for
now... but where? You've got no time to think, however, as you
alight on top of the Misty Mountains...
