Hello, and welcome to Patrick's Another Freaking Review-Type Show. Today, I'll be reviewing Mortal Kombat 2, but since I've never played the arcade version, I'll just play the one I own (and have played many times): The SNES port.

What to say first... I know! The game is awesome! I mean, it isn't arcade-perfect, but it's about gameplay n' such!

Okay, first, I'll talk about graphics.

The graphics are pretty damn good. Here is proof. The graphics are pretty much the same (well for the SNES). The names are under the lifebars instead of in the lifebars, though. Meh. I don't give a crap.

The controls are just spot-on. Everything is responsive, it's awesome, moving on.

The sounds are very good. Most of them are there, and some of them are different. Rayden's gibberish doing his torpedo move (Back, Back, Forward) is from the arcade, as well as Liu Kang's voice, Shao Kahn's voice, Scorpion saying "GET OVER HERE!" or "COME HERE!" and Kintaro's voice. Speaking of Shao Kahn's voice, that's something I didn't like. Instead of getting all of his sounds, he gets some of his sounds. He has his trademark quotes (such as "IS THAT YOUR BEST?" and "YOU WILL DIE, MORTAL!"), but has Kintaro's attacking sounds, and a slowed down version of any male character getting uppercut'd. If Liu, Scorpion, Kintaro, and Rayden have their own voice clips, why can't Shao get his own? He has his own sounds in the arcade version, why can't he have them in the SNES version?

Some more flaws I find are the A.I. of normal characters. They always duck/dodge/block most projectiles. And you can just win by luring the opponent in and uppercuting him/her. If it's on a higher difficulty, they'll almost always counter the uppercut with a throw. Shang Tsung is the worst. He always counters your attacks. But I have developed a strategy to defeat Shang as Sub-Zero. It works most of the time. There are also strategys to beat Kintaro with Sub-Zero, and Shao Kahn with anyone. You want to know the strategys? Ask in the talk page.

That's enough bad stuff. Now back to the good stuff.

What makes this game probably better than the arcade version, is the built-in cheats. You have to be at the character select screen for it to work. You want them? Ask in the talk page. At the first screen when you're highlighting "Start" Hold L and R and then press start. You'll enter a 2-player 4-people endurance match. When you turn on the game, hold L and R and you'll get a bonus scene at the Acclaim logo. A cheat they should've had was "1 button fatalities" like in MK Trilogy for the PS1. Oh well.

In conclusion, this is a really, really good game. I'll give this a 10/10, just because of it's complete awesomeness. It was hard to find this, and if you find it and you have an SNES, get it. Even if you're not a fan of MK, you'll enjoy it. I promise you. This has been Patrick with another freaking review show, signing out.
