Abilities are talents, tricks, or traits that are available to the player characters which they use to dynamically enhance their character and the gameplay experience as a whole. There is a variety of skills available for each class, and the sum of all skills allows for diversity of playstyle within the roles and parameters of the class.

All characters start with three abilities. One of these is a passive ability, which grants a constant benefit, and the other is an active ability, which requires the player to activate it to use its effects. Depending on their status as an Active or Passive character, they also receive one additional ability based on their designation.

Active Abilities require more skill and finesse, as well as consuming your class' given resource, and often consist of chaining combos of abilities effectively. Players who choose to take a lot of active abilities will find that their effectiveness is limited through cooldowns, as well as their playstyle catering more to being active in a fight, through mobility, constant use and reuse of abilities, resource cahe management, and spacial awareness necessary to successfully chain off abilities and ability combos. Active players will seek the engagement of others to make themselves effective as they are more often than not vulnerable when on cooldown. This encourages a teamwork dynamic between players that is necessary to keep the economy of a good party alive.

Passive Abilities allow players to adopt more numeric benefits and therefore don't have to resort to heavy combo playstyle, allowing them to focus more on staying alive than having to constantly juggle abilities. Players with a greater assortment of passive abilities will also find that they have an easier time fighting in the long term, as their passives don't require constant refresh, recharges, and the like. Passive abilities cater more towards solo play that focuses slightly less on combat, and helps the player's survivability over their damage output.
