The Shields are an elite group of soldiers who work in the special-forces squadron of the BID (Byzantium Intelligence Department) and answer directly to CEO Constantine himself. They have a distinct style and attitude about them, and happen to be extremely loyal to their commander. Originally the subjects of experimentation from the science department, as part of the Herakles super-soldier project, The Shields were hand-picked as the most successful results of the project.

Each of them undergoing several years of rigorous and intense training, the Shields are deemed legendary for their amazing skills. Working as a pack of five, they are unofficially lead by [[Wikihood/characters/Ripper|Jacques the Ripper]], considered the most dangerous and unpredictable of Byzantium operatives.

Kite's true name and motives for joining the Byzantium Super Soldier program aren't known, because her dossiers burnt in a plane crash. Her plane, known simply as The Red Baron Mk. II, also contains ranged weaponry which is seen as strange for Earth standard, and it's not really known where she got the weaponry to begin with. Her speech patterns include awkwardly-shoehorned German in otherwise perfect English.
